Emerge America is the premier training program for Democratic women inspiring them to run and honing their skills to win. By identifying, inspiring and training more Democratic women to run for office, we are building a pool of highly qualified candidates that reflect the breadth and diversity of the Democratic Party.

In 2002, a group of dedicated Bay Area women created and launched EMERGE, Women Leaders for a Democratic Future.  Their mission is to educate, provide support and inspire courage for a completely diverse group of women to run for local community boards and public office – populating the pipeline for higher office.  As many studies have revealed, historically men opt in to the politic process, women typically wait to be invited.  EMERGE aims to change that.

I am lucky to be a founding Advisor to EMERGE.  The Program, founded as EmergeCalifornia, now operates in 7 states.  We are working hard to expand to 20 states in 5 years, and are actively seeking sponsors and growth leaders.

Each program actively recruits members during August/September of each year.  Typically we are lucky to interview 100+ candidates for each 25 member class.  The class meets monthly over 6 months learning from the country’s top political strategists and top presentation coaches.  Topics include everything from Campaign Structure to Public Speaking to Fundraising to Getting Networked with community leaders.

EMERGE has graduated over 350 members, with more than 50% now holding public office or serving on community boards!
